The "Items" page is where the magic starts to happen in Riverr. You can find this by navigating to the "Manufacturing" tab and then you will see "Items" as a sub-tab.
So what exactly does the items page do? It pulls all of the active order items apart and sorts each one by variation. This means that all of the same style, color, and sizes will be together by default. There are multiple benefits of this, but let's use an example to help us understand what is happening a bit better.
Let's say that we have a bunch of Bella Canvas items that we would like to group together. If we batch them without doing any filtering, they will still be sorted by style, color, and size. This means that when you start to pick these items, you will only have to pick from the same bin/box once, and because all of the colors are grouped, you will be able to pick all of the identically colored items together. This will save you a lot of time if you have hundreds of items to pick. (We will come back to batching and picking in the next article.)
Next, on the left hand side you will see a list of filters. Your printing operator will love you, because you will be able to send her/him batches of the same size, color, image, or whatever other specific you would like.
Printing is often slowed down in the DTG world because you often have to change from a unisex size to a toddler, and then right back to the unisex platen for the item next in line. Now, though, you can print all of your toddler items, then all of the youth items, then unisex, and so on.
The same goes for colors. Our clients often batch the white items separately, because the print time is so different than for colored items.
Also, if you have a lot of the same image, then it might even make sense to have a screen printer on hand, because you can batch all of the items by a specific image. This could save you time and money if the right opportunity arises and you have a listing that is selling really well.
The opportunities are endless with the items page, so give it a whirl and see what works best for your business!
Next we will batch some of these items. Lets go ahead and find out how to do this.
